Three Course Three Missing

Even though heroic effort was expended whipping up a three course meal of deliciousness for seven, two missed out due to gastronomic issues, and the last for monetary compensation. This Red-Kryptonic event could have spelled ruin, as Black Glove raged just under the surface. But Spatula Girl calmed Red Glove with an ultrasonic whack, and brought peace to all and sunder.

As entree, we dined upon:

Potato Skins with a Garlic Aioli and Mini Pizzas

While for the main course, there was:
Roast Belly Pork with Glazed Mushrooms and Mashed Potato
And last but not least, dessert was a delicious creme brulee finished so quickly, even the paparazzi could not keep up. Good night.

Crackly Roast Pork

Mmmmm it's in the oven and I can't wait.

Tips to porky heaven found online:

1. 500g, 30 minutes.
2. Pour boiling water over defrosted pork to shrink the skin from the scoring allowing the heat, oil & salt to penetrate.
3. Thyme & Vinegar mix.
4. Bay leaves on bottom of pan.
5. Use trivets for all round yummy cooking.
6. 220 celcius for first third of cooking time. Lower to 180 celcius for continued cooking.
7. Do not wrap pork in anything after done, during resting time, it will soften crackling.

So Red Glove whirled through all these tips and has put together an awesome smelling piggy.

Mmmmmm cannot wait!!!

Drunk Pork with Salted Cabbage

Served with Rice.

Spatula Girl's Drunk Pork dish tonight hit new highs on Red Glove's internal Porky scale.

An inspired combination of cooking wine, soy sauce, homemade chilli sauce, sesame oil and cornflour, marinated deep into the meat of a piggy, gave off a fragrant aroma deep enough to uproot Red Glove away from her engrossed mastering of the ComputerAdventure Runaway2: the dream of the turtle, to follow that wonderful scent into the kitchen.

"The Pork", before it entered frying pan heaven.

Red Glove doesn't have anything funny to say today. The food was just too good. Red Glove out.

"Boiled" Spare Ribs

Tonight, Spatula Girl opened the BIG BOOK OF SPEL, uh RECIPES.

From it's hard-covered leaves, a mythical atmosphere of possibilities arose, to lend Spatula Girl, Power.

Flipping at lightning speed, her finger came to a stop at the corner of the Porky chapter. Scanning with superhuman eyes, Spatula Girl ran through ingredient lists till she found The One. The only ingredient list we could fulfill at least 90% of.

Barbecue Spare Ribs.

And so, she gathered her tools, laying them out with precision and care.

But all was not well with the night. A cold wind was blowing in from the West. Red Glove sniffed the air, feeling a tinge of... something. Unable to identify the source of her brain itch, Red Glove turned to watch Spatula Girl's lite mixing skills.

Which is when the first hint of impending doom hit the room. Mixed amongst the ingredients laid out by Spatula Girl, was a packet of Paprika! What foul magic was this! It defintely couldn't maybe not wouldn't shouldn't couldn't perhaps be Spatula Girl's own mistake. But anyway, just as we put that hick-up behind us, real disaster struck.

The words 'flameproof' somehow disappeared from Spatula Girl's vision when she was reading through the recipe, causing her to use a not-so-flameproof casserole dish on the stove.

A shout and a clang brought Red Glove rushing to the stove, where Spatula Girl was hyperventilating.

The sight of disaster proceeded to bring forth Red Glove's own Super Powers of Cleaning Up Messes! And with some newspaper, a cloth, and a whoosh, all was well once again in the world of SuperFoodyHeroes. (Except for the occasional fit of giggles and finger pointing)

In the end, being without a flameproof casserole dish, Spatula Girl improvised, as all good superheroes do, and decided to just boil the entire dish, mighty morphing it from Barbecued Ribs to Boiled Ribs.

But now, with the drama of having to re-create her dish, Spatula Girl was running late for SuperFoody Training. MasterChef was on TV at 7:30, and it was already 7:31. Ding ding ding!!! She called for the help of Red Glove to establish her plating specialty, and then flew off to Training!

With a heavy sigh, Red Glove lifted her SuperAss, and, cursing the Wicked Witch of the West who was the probable cause of the Bad Luck Wind, Red Glove plated and served dinner.

Yum

Sambal Bee Hoon with Char Siu

Spatula Girl’s attempt to fry Bee Hoon Sambal Style.
Red Glove’s failed Char Siu Pork side dish.
Regular lunch heroics in the Balmoral House.

Bee Hoon Ingredients:
1 leaf off a big ass cabbage
Just like half a Chilli
3 Cloves of chopped Garlic
1 large chopped Onion
2 Eggs (add salt to eggs)
Sambal Chilli Sauce
Soy Sauce (A Spatula Girl staple ingredient)
Oyster Sauce

Bee Hoon Method:
1. Boil Bee Hoon till soft.
2. Chop up your onions and chilli, dump in to fry till onions slightly brown-ish.
3. Start chopping your cabbage leaf to whatever size you think is comfy for your mouth. Dump into wok soon as you are done.
4. Whisk eggs with salt, lay into wok, fry mooooore.
5. Make sauce (Mix all three sauces together in random quantities) while frying.
6. Do not repeat Spatula Girl’s flying sauce adventure. It may have left Red Glove in fits of giggles, but Spatula Girl mourned the dead soy sauce greatly.

7. Drain Bee Hoon, dump into wok with veggie mix.
8. Dump sauce in too! Mix, stir, whatever you do to get everything the right colour.

7. Ready when soft/looks yummy.

Char Siu Pork:
Buy Char Siu sauce from a supermarket near you.
Get Pork spare ribs from a pig.
Dump both into a non-stick frying pan. Red Glove used a teaspoon amount of sauce.
Mix, and serve like 20 minutes later cause it takes ages cooked as badly as Red Glove’s dish was.
For a proper recipe, use google.
